the first step
I wondered what would make writing this, my first post, sweet for me. As I glanced out my window, I met the emerald shimmer of a hummingbird as she sipped nectar from the fuchsia blooms atop the tall stalks of succulents in my garden. She reminded me that there is sweetness in simplicity. Inspired by her tiny and powerful presence, I will simply start now.
what were we made for?
Have you ever sensed how the pressure of what you think you should do/be and the self doubts of not-enough limit you from living your life to the fullest? You are not alone.
What would it be like to shift your attention away from your doubts and see that simply being you is enough? What would it be like to take time for pure enjoyment and wonder…to be still and notice the hummingbirds or the bees as they pollinate our world? I’ve been giving this a go and it’s pretty magical. All the inspiration we could ever need in order to create and connect is right here, for those of us willing to look and listen.
We are all connected. We are here to care for each other. We are here to experience joy and fulfillment as we dance on this spinning planet, together.
I believe we can create a more connected, compassionate and sustainable world by supporting each other, in community, to be and express authentically. If this idea brings up some natural doubts for you, you’re in good company with all of the other human beings here who have both a desire to make a difference and a functioning amygdala for survival. Despite my own doubts - and believe me they are a regular cycle of existential crises - I’m willing to believe in this possibility of collective healing and show up anyway. I’m willing to contribute to the conscious creation of this vision. I’m here to build community with you — bright leaders and creators — who want to be a part of making magic happen.
I’m coming at this “work” as a coach, committed to supporting people to live lives that they love, to redefine success on their own terms, and to make meaningful contributions with their gifts.
I am starting this conversation on Substack as a mother with intense concerns about social media. For now, this feels like a decent digital space to play and explore together.
Here, I’ll share inspiration and questions to evoke your consideration — on leadership, creativity, joy, awe, science and consciousness — at least once per month. Sharing my writing is new to me, so I’ll be gentle with myself and start small (pro tip!).
I am grateful for the few moments of your attention that you have generously given here, as I know how precious your time is. I hope you find something interesting for yourself and that you’ll join me as I experiment and try my best to spread a little light and possibility.
If any of this strikes a chord with you, please reach out to me directly to share your thoughts. I’d really love to connect with you.
I love this so much for you Erin! And I am so excited to share in your insights, knowledge and commonly shared existential crisis!
